I was at Waterford for the 60th Anniversary in July. It is fantastic to see the school flourishing. I was so lucky to attend it. I left at the end of 1974, and want to support the school. Earlier this year I was diagnosed with angina. The medical advice is to embark on ‘aggressive risk factor modification and life style change’.
Please help motivate me and help Waterford. My challenge is to walk 250 km over a month, 30 days! I will be starting on September 6th (Independence Day!) (Apologies all!..slight delay to start due to unexpected medical issue) . My goal is to raise at least 67000 Emalangeni/Rand for the school’s scholarship fund, E1000 for each year I have been alive.
I will post regular updates on progress to my Blog website https://alan-whiteside.com/ and please send me an email at awhiteside1956@gmail.com if you’d like more information on the challenge.
Stop Press June 2024: I’ve now recovered after a rotten year healthwise and made a really good re-start on the walking. I plan to complete the challenge in the next month. I would love to see more people supporting the challenge now that I am again fit and raring to go. I will provide regular updates on my Blog website. Thank you so much for the support!
Alan
If for some reason the payment platform here fails to deliver for you, please do have a look at other routes for payment which can be found in the link below. The WK SA Trustees Paypal account (South Africa Paypal) or the FNB account in Johannesburg (South African Bank Transfers) are possible alternatives. If you mention “Whiteside Walk” or some such identifier on the payment the Treasurer will ensure it goes to my challenge!
